The Shepherds of Being

“Earth has existed for 45 million centuries, but the present is special. This is the first century when one species took the future of the planet into its own hands.”

Lord Martin Rees is an honorary professor of cosmology and astrophysics at the University of Cambridge.

Man is the crown of the Universe, created in the image and likeness of the highest perfection, to be commanded by Mother Nature. However, now another definition of man is more popular - an aggressive parasite that has flooded this beautiful planet.

Both statements are indisputable and have already spawned quite a few scientifically grounded concepts, populist theories, and even programs of urgent measures and concrete actions. It is enough to recall famous scholarly works, elite club reports and resolutions of the international communities about the ‘golden billion’. It is mortally dangerous for the Earth to expand this privileged section the world’s population. However, this holds only if people live solely to satisfy their material needs. But the better one understands the Universe, the fewer illusions one has on this matter.

Man is separate from nature. It is true, but only in a very limited sense. By multiplying and using knowledge, he radically changes his environment. Materials, resources, and energy are borrowed and irreversibly processed from historically established structures and stable positions. The responsibility for their misuse is not clearly formulated - human life is brief, so no one is afraid to be taken accountable for the consequences.

Man occupies a special place in the universe: a biological species endowed with reason, will and morality. These qualities allow man to achieve goals unattainable for millions of other creatures. Of course, here we mean only known forms of life. Although research demonstrates that the emergence of thought is an inevitable consequence of the development of living matter wherever suitable conditions exist for a long enough time.

The modern level of knowledge suggests that the Universe is governed by a single Reason: any creature with a claim for thinking has to solve the same tasks: the tasks of survival and development. The discoveries astrophysicists made in the second half of the last century disproved the belief in the uniqueness of the Solar System and life on Earth. At least from chemical and mathematical points of view. However, the best minds of mankind had come to the same conclusions much earlier. The great philosopher and scientist Emmanuel Kant logically proved that since space is infinite, it contains an infinite number of possibilities for life, including intelligent life. For the psyche and the mind associated with higher nervous activity it is the main source of development. Man strives to achieve maximum independence from nature. The task is clear, relevant and even truly moral, but only if it ensures environmental conservation.

The problem is that what we see today contradicts this trend both on the planet and in space. Using extraterrestrial space for waste disposal is far from being a science fiction scenario.

The universal interconnection of everything in the Universe is presented in sufficient detail in scientific works published with the support of the Planetary Development Institute, Dubai, UAE. This year the monograph "The Origins of Planetary Ethics in the Philosophy of Russian Cosmism" will go on sale.

The Shepherds of Being

The book formulates the most important foundations for the rescue of a dying planetary ecosystem and a value code for building a biocompatible human civilization that is harmonious and manageable. After all, the human planetary mission is to preserve life on this planet.

Man is an integral part of nature. To preserve nature is the responsibility of man, whom the German philosopher Martin Heidegger referred to as the shepherd of being.
