Anatole France is the pen name of the French writer Fran?ois-Anatole Thibault. He won worldwide fame in the 1920s; his authority in the country’s literature and culture is incontestable. In 1921, France received a Nobel Prize in literature for "in recognition of his brilliant literary achievements, characterized as they are by a nobility of style, a profound human sympathy, grace, and a true Gallic temperament".
