Bastille Day

Observed in France as a public holiday. The historical event, which is the origin of the holiday, took place during the Great French Revolution in 1789 when people in Paris stormed the prison fortress of Bastille, a symbol of royal despotism, and liberated seven prisoners. This event is referred to as the starting point of the revolution and а symbol of the overthrow of absolutism in the country. Although Bastille Day is a national event in France it is also celebrated all over the world. The storming of Bastille is one of the greatest events in human history.
