Day of creating UNEP

15
December 2020
The United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP) was set up at the first UN conference on the environment held in Stockholm, Sweden on 15 December 1972. The UNEP main objectives are developing a global environmental programme and endorsing it within the UN, promoting environmental measures, developing partnerships with other UN bodies, and involving civil society, including youth and other organizations and the private sector in environmental activities. These activities are funded by an Ecological Fund formed through voluntary donations by countries and minor contributions coming from the regular UN budget.
