Easter Monday of western European Christians
28
March 2020
The Bible
says that following his resurrection Jesus Christ showed himself to two of his
disciples. He shared the way with them to the village of Emmaus, near Jerusalem,
and supper. Important Easter Monday symbols include a cross on which Jesus
Christ met with his death and resurrection. Other symbols include Easter eggs, both
natural and works of art, nests, lambs, hares or rabbits. Eggs and young
animals symbolize the birth of new life, the awakening of nature and the return
of fertility to the land in spring.
