July 2020
According to dictionaries, fjord or fiord (Swedish “fjard”) is a long, narrow inlet with steep sides or cliffs, created by glacial erosion. Fjords form when a sea or lake penetrate to low parts of land. Western Norway is famous for fjords; each of the four Western Norwegian regions has its inimitable natural masterpieces. M?re & Romsdal, the northernmost region, boasts the world famous fjord Rogaland with its mighty cascading waterfalls. Rogaland is a UNESCO world heritage site. Denmark has observed Fjord Day since 1991. The aim of the day is to raise public awareness of the state of coastline waters in the country.
