International Day for Disaster Reduction

International Day for Disaster Reduction has been celebrated on 13 October since 1989. Its goal is to raise public awareness of disaster risk management. The international disaster reduction strategy aims at emphasizing the importance of prevention and raising public awareness in the communities vulnerable to natural and man-made disasters regarding ways to protect themselves.
