International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer

16
September 2020
International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer was established by the UN General Assembly on 16 September 1994 in commemoration of the Montreal Protocol on substances destroying the ozone layer. It has been celebrated since 1995. The motto of the Ozone Day is “Save Our Sky: Protect Yourself, Protect the Ozone Layer.” On this day, countries are recommended to dedicate their efforts to the causes contained in the Montreal Protocol and its later amendments. The ozone layer is a thin gas shield protecting the Earth from harmful effects of solar radiation, and by doing this it saves life on the planet.
