International Day of Older Persons

01
October 2020

In 1990, the UN General Assembly made 1 October the International Day of Older Persons. The UN calls on governments, the private sector, civil society organisations and all individuals on the planet to contribute to a society for all ages as is stipulated in the Madrid International Plan of Action on Ageing, and in accordance with the Millennium Declaration development goals as well as larger global development goals. Countries can and must make sure that people would not only live longer but their life would also be better, more diverse and complete, and give them more satisfaction.
