International Day of the Resistance Movement

10
April 2020

This day honours those who resisted fascists during WWII (1939-1945) in areas occupied by the Third Reigh. The resistance movement used various forms of fighting the occupants. The most common included the following: anti-fascist propaganda; publishing clandestine literature; carrying out strikes and acts of sabotage on transport infrastructure and the factories that produced products for occupants; killing traitors and members of occupying administration; collecting intelligence for the Allies; and guerilla warfare. Armed rebellion was the highest form of resistance.
