Niels Bohr (07.10.1885 – 18.11.1962) was a Danish physicist, a Nobel Prize Winner, who discovered isotopes and developed the quantum theory of the hydrogen atom. In 1947 on Bohr’s 62nd birthday, King Frederick IX of Denmark conferred on him the Order of the Elephant, the highest national medal. The award celebrated Niels Bohr not only as a patriarch of science but as a humanist working to prevent the nuclear race.
