Orthodox Christmas is celebrated on January 7 unlike Catholic and Protestant Christmas celebrated on December 25. This great holiday celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ in a small of town of Bethlehem. The baby Son of God was born in a supernatural way of Mother Mary. Chistmas concludes Advent, with the strictest fasting period falling on Christmas Eve. Christmas service is performed in Orthodox churches on the night of January 6 and 7. Christmastide or Yuletide, which follows Christmas, is observed for 12 days.
