Simon Bolivar’s Birthday

As the head of the Second Republic of Venezuela (1813), Simon Bolivar abolished slavery. In 1819, Bolivar became the President of Columbia, which incorporated Venezuela and New Granada. In 1822, upon liberation Ecuador joined Columbia. In 1824, Bolivar’s army liberated Peru and in 1825, Upper Peru later to be named Bolivia after Bolivar. Bolivar sought to create a single state out of the liberated areas, which he achieved for a time.
