According to the Constitution, the Serb Republic occupied Serbian autonomous regions and other ethnically Serbian communities in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Serb Republic was proclaimed to be part of the Yugoslav Federation. January 9 is a national holiday in the Republika Srpska. It is referred to as Dan Republike or the Day of the Republic and is a day off. The Republic’s leaders congratulate people on this holiday. Various festivities are held on this day including concerts, contest, marches and rallies.
