Also, the Day of St. Veronica – the patron saint of Photographers is celebrated. That day in 1839, daguerreotype – the first publicly photographic process was announced. It was invented by Louis Jacques Mande Daguerre, whose patent for such a promising innovation was bought by the French Government, and declared as a "gift to the world." In subsequent years, many scientists continued to improve the process of taking photographs, using different materials and reagents. In 1861, James Maxwell presented the first durable color photograph, and the invention of Digital Camera by “Sony” in 1981, allowed taking digital pictures and pushed back the traditional film.
