World Population Day

According to the United Nations 5 billion people lived in the world on 11 July 1987. This day became known the Five Billion Day. Two years later, in 1989, the United Nations made 11 July the World Population Day. The world’s population grows by almost 77 million people every year; 95% of this growth takes place in developing countries. Global warming has become a hot issue in the 21st century. It is caused by the general population growth and extensive human activity. The latter negatively affects global resources and wreaks irreversible damage to the environment.
