UN Global Road Safety Week

April 2016

Road safety is an issue in the entire civilized world. Colliding vehicles cause the death of over 1.2 million people every year. Road accidents are the main cause of death for people of 10 and 24 years old.

UN Global Road Safety Week serves to raise public awareness (especially among children) in this sphere. Another aim of the week is to reduce risk factors including encouraging people to use helmets and safety belts, refrain from driving under the influence of alcohol and speeding as well as to make sure roads have adequate surfacing and traffic infrastructure.
