The official news agency of the Chinese government, Xinhua News Agency, announced the successful completion of the formation of a constellation of satellites for the latest BeiDou Navigation System. The chief designer of the project, Yang Chanfeng, speaking at the headquarters of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, said that his country had passed the most important stage in making the national experimental system global.

BeiDou follows a “18 plus” scheme, which combines the location of its elements in near-earth orbit and a hung satellite in the geostationary one. It united almost all world achievements known in this sphere. As a result, according to the characteristics declared by the creators, the Chinese navigation will surpass GLONASS, GPS and even Galileo in various parameters. BeiDou is expected to become an important part of the nation’s defense and make a significant contribution to the development of global intellectual transport systems. In the next year or two, China will send six more navigation objects into space.
