Russian physicists Lenz and Yakobi recognized Ohm’s law. The London Royal Society awarded Ohm with a gold medal and made him its member in 1842. It was only after this that Ohm’s work was recognized in Germany. In 1881, the International Congress of Electricians in Paris voted unanimously to name the SI derived unit of electrical resistance after Georg Simon Ohm. There is an Ohm memorial plaque in Cologne and there is a monument to the scientist in Munich.
