World Theatre Day
27
March 2020
It is celebrated annually on
the 27th March by ITI Centres and the international theatre community. Various
national and international theatre events are organized to mark this occasion.
One of the most important of these is the circulation of the World Theatre Day
International Message through which at the invitation of ITI, a figure of world
stature shares his or her reflections on the theme of Theatre and a Culture of
Peace. The first World Theatre Day International Message was written by Jean
Cocteau (France) in 1962. The International Theatre Day is not another
professional holiday of the people in the industry; it is the holiday of
millions of theatre goers. On this day, various theatre
festivals take place and plays are staged. Officials and members of society are
full of praise for theatre companies for their performances.
